A Chardonnay with subtle aromas of crushed oyster shells, mixed with early season pears, elderflower and jasmine.
On the palate, crisp refreshing acidity cuts through ripe melon, white peach and tarte Tartin. With 11 months in barrel adding to the expansive mid-palate, the slight yeasty note adds complexity and depth.
Balanced phenolics give a crisp, green apple skin finish to a wine that is brimming with depth and intensity. Very elegant with an exquisite structure and a mineral finish.
This Chardonnay comes from a small vineyard on the banks of the Napa River, grown on well drained fluvial soils rich in minerals. The fruit was harvested on the 20th of September, whole cluster pressed and then fermented using native yeasts in barrel, 30% new French oak from Tonnellerie Remond and the balance once used French oak. After going through a natural malolactic fermentation with frequent barrel stirring by hand it was left to mature Sur lie. In August, we racked it to tank, gently filtered it and sent it to bottle.
